I've pulled them down with the truck or tractor and a chain. I've also cut them off from the bottom.

Cutting from the bottom is tempting the "phantom", so be cautious. Make a cut on the underside first so it doesn't split and then finish the cut from the upper side. 6' pieces at a time until the top falls on its own or the remaining tree gets light enough to pull down with whatever rig you have - tractor - truck - or wench.

Careful - - as hung up trees often want to roll as they fall.
