I'm sure I did something wrong to make this comparison irrelevant but here it is anyway ::)

Thanks Mitch for sharing.  8)

I know how much goes into this, let alone making the video of the testing. Did you get any numbers from the cuts?

Oh looks like you DQ'ed on the last cookie with 440.  ;)

I came up with
361= :37
562= :33
372= :36
440= :30

It was a lot of work and took much longer than I anticipated to complete  >:(

My impressions on vibes
440 worse
372 and 361 indistinguishable
562 smoothest

Easiest power band
440  1st
562
361
372 (this is my only stock cyl 372 and it has always felt peaky to me) last

Balance between 361 and 562
hands down the 562 balances better

After four hours setting this up and camera problems.....as long as the whole bar was cutting wood.....it made the cut! ;)

Thanks for the numbers and other info.

I have been lucky here lately having a member volunteer to come down and help me when I test now (Thanks 660mag). Saves me from having to video and then go back and time everything. Big time savings right there.

I've noticed that too. Not all stock saws run the same. Some are just strong bulls in the cut and then you run another that is peaky and dont seem like the same saw even though they are the same model.

The last 372 I put together and  was on it's 1st tank seemed to be a strong one to me.  Only thing I did wrong was run it with somebody  and their 7900 one day. They bought my 372 later that week.

Yea, it is a lot of work to make those comparisons and the more effort to try to put into making everything fair and equal, the more variables you see when you are critical of everything.

One thing is for sure, and that is, cut4fun2 has worked hard at this a few times.

And even then, there is a lot of perception involved. Like the size and strength of the person may effect how the chainsaw feels to him.

Cutting cants is a different story compared with using the chainsaw all day in pine tops or cutting up an old oak.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...
That knowledge can live after us... and that "Pays It Forward".
Be all that you can be . . .
