New Shindaiwas
« on: November 06, 2015, 07:01:07 am »
Was at a distributor meeting yesterday for Exmark. These folks are also a Echo/Shindaiwa distributor. Over on the Shindaiwa display was a bunch of shiny new saws. Rep told me they were introduced just recently.

Not surprisingly they are all re-labled Echos, but still it was nice to see them back in the saw biz. Like Husky/Jonsered they seem to look a little better in red.  :)   And they are really red, even the fuel caps. The air filter cover that is black on the Echos is also red.

Think there were about 8 saws there; one being a Shindaiwa version of the 620.

Just seen online Shindaiwa 591 491 402 600  etc.    http://www.shindaiwa-usa.com/Products/Chain-Saws.aspx

http://www.shindaiwa-usa.com/

September 2008, the Shindaiwa company merged with Kioritz to form the Yamabiko Corporation

I was always told those newer echos were just shins in dress.

Nice link Kevin.

I don't know which side of the family the designs actually came from. Guys who follow those product lines more closely could probably figure it out.

Cool to see them back in the saw biz, but the question of how they'll sell is yet to be answered. I'd bet many Shindaiwa dealers have moved on to something else in the time since they were discontinued.

I have only seen one top handle Shindiawa saw.   The place I work for sells echo saws but they also sell a boat load of the Shindiawa string trimmers.   Good stuff in my opinion.   If the saws are that good they should do alright.

I have always been impressed with Shindaiwa saws, am glad to see the name back but not sure it will work as a rebadged Echo. Don't get me wrong, I am a big Echo fan but found their saws to be a hard sell against Stihl and Husky.

I'd rather have that Echo 355T tophandle (or a red Shinny version) than an MS201T or 540XPT.  Glad to see Echo dropped the price.
