« on: January 18, 2013, 03:31:54 pm »
Can I reuse this cylinder. Its chipped a layer of the cylinder wall near the top of the cylinder. Here's pics of the cylinder and piston.

Hard to tell looking at a picture . If you can get the tramp aluminum off you might be able to see a little better .Lean burn ,crispy critter piston .

Thats the only spot that bad. I thought about sanding it and puting a new piston in it. Its near the top of the cylinder. I'll see if I can sand the chipped area so its smooth again.

Ok I sanded all marking and crap where I can reuse the cylinder. My piston is 45.90mm and cylinder is 45.93mm in diameter. Would that be a 46mm piston for a replacement?

    .If it's a 46 mm bore use a 46 mm piston .

If the chrome is scalped above the ring travel you're probabley good to go .If below it's anyones guess if it will work .Don't get stingy  with the oil you might have it .

Does anybody know of anyone that has the 034AV model plate for the cylinder cover? I have one but the holes are bigger than the pins that holds it on. Otherwise I'll glue it on with gorilla glue or JB weld and hope the heat doesnt make it come loose.

I got piston and gaskets needed to fix this other day. Got it all back together yesterday. I started it up for the first since and notice chain oil pouring on the bar side with a darker brown color than bar/chain oil. I guess someone used motor oil instead of bar/chain oil. Only thing I noticed is the muffler smokes a little when idling but not when the trigger is squeezed. Other than that new vec piston 46mm, cylinder gasket, and muffler gasket from north wood saw. I also replaced the spark plug cause the old one was brown on the end of it. Thanks to all for the help.

In this cold weather they are going to smoke a little more. They usually clear up when you start cutting wood and the chainsaw heats up.

Found a bad av mount on this when using it today. Any way of telling the soft and hard type av mounts apart?
