Aftermarket Parts?
« on: November 29, 2012, 08:16:03 pm »
I'm looking at a Stihl clutch for my new old 066 and the dealer wants $81.  Aftermarket on ebay is less that $30.  Same type thing for the Sprocket assembly and no doubt all the rest.  I'd like to here from some of the pro's on here about what they think about using aftermarket parts on a Stihl chainsaw.

For occasional use it should be fine.

I've bought several things from Chainsawr and they were all in the good used category.. He's safer than buying used from EBAY

For occasional use it should be fine.

So I guess that means you believe the factory parts are better?

I have bought some after market parts that I had to work on a little bit to get them to work.

Other times, they were a perfect match.

Quality varies - you never know?

Northwood Saw sales the aftermarket 066 clutches and then you would have someone to back it up if it failed for some reason in the first week or ?

One thing you have to remember about flea bay is more times than not they attempt to sell at inflated prices plus they often attempt to gouge you a little bit on shipping .Not always but often because of peoples' niavity in what things sell for either  over the internet or in a brick and morter shop on main street USA .

There's nothng wrong with good used parts like from Scott or several others you trust .

The PT Barnum types on flea bay are the ones that seem to change their sellers names often or have several .After a while you learn who they are and avoid them like the plague .Without mentioning names there's one huckster of McCulloch parts I'll never do business with again if he were giving the parts away .They only get one chance to screw old Al and they'd better get all they can because they'll never get the chance again .
