Yep close enough to not even worry about.    So if you are looking for old school because you do not like the new electronic stuff then there is stuff out there that will still compare.

So along the lines of fuel injection I acquired the saw about a year ago.    I finally decided to get it out and see what I can find wrong with it.  So far I know it is a fuel problem because I can put a little mix down the intake and it will fire but will not run.   Other wise the saw will not start or run at all.
I do have a service manual on order for it and will continue from there.

If you need a manual, please ask. I may have it.

Thanks Ray.   I did down load those.   When I get a chance to look at them I will let you know.

Well Ray I have looked at the service manual and most of the diagnostics that is explained all involves the use of Stihls diagnostic interface and software.
There is some useful information because I did not know there was a fuel pump.    There is also a starting procedure explained which could be helpful.
The IPL is definitely helpful.   Thanks again.

I have 2 of these 500i, they seem ok, no problems so far and they seem fairly nice to run , I have not seen a arctic one yet even if they make one which I'm sure they will

from my point of view I see alot of guys taking a bar and chain setup and running it on the 462 then on the 500i, that is not going to work as the 500i needs the chain filed different than what the 462 needs , 500i has more torque so chain needs to be filed so you can use the power , you can hear the sound difference in the muffler . If you just let the 500i cut like the 462 it runs abit rich , make it cut and you can tell saw is running cleaner , My outfitter muffler part was bright blue in 3 tanks of fuel

Seem hit and miss if you get a good one or dud. Friend that logs loves his for felling.

This guys 500 was 1 month old running stihl premix.

Something about a sealing ring goes bad on injector. Under warranty they take care of it. Out of warranty $300 for just injector plus labor time. Then topend cost too.
