Stihl MS 660
« on: May 20, 2017, 04:48:43 pm »
Folks, have a repair question. I have a Stihl MS 660 that has had 2 new installed piston and cylinder assemblies installed. After the initial start up both times, I lose compression from frozen rings, and the latest, frozen rings and damage to the lower end of the piston. Any advise on why?

Squish too tight? Are you using a base gasket?

Same saw as this one?  So it was aftermarket meteor kit?  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/stihl/piston-ring-instalation/msg77394/#msg77394

I'm a redneck repair guy.  Poke hole and then drywall screw and pull the screw with pliers.

Some take a flat screwdriver and ground a hook in the end to pull with.
