Oversized bar stud made for a stripped case.
« on: August 28, 2014, 07:43:17 pm »
Made this a few days ago for my buddies 041 which he found in a dumpster because the case was stripped. He asked if i could help him out. 1/2 hour later it was good as new. Turned a stud 3/8" to match the new tapped hole in the case...Bob

Did you single point thread it or use a die?

It would be relatively easy to do if you had a lathe and the knowledge to run the thing .Nice job .

If you had a lathe that would cut both SAE and metric even more easy .FWIW A Stihl 056 has a stud with 10mm on the saw side and 8 mm on the bar side which makes another option for repair .
