In the past, people have lapped decompression valves as automobile valves are sometimes lapped.

If you use Loctite Clover green can valve grinding compound, it must be the finest grade you can find.(#5 or #3 if you can find it?)

Some people just use white or red rubbing compound.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...
