Btw, it is the adjuster pin vs. the crank that really matters, not the studs.
I guess that depends on if it is running out of adjuster screw travel or the bar slot is bottomed out on the stud.  I'm not sure which is happening here.  If it's the adjuster screw then perhaps you could add another hole?

This one is running out of adjuster travel.  I have just drilled a hole further back in the past on my own stuff. ;) = redneck fix.

I have 81DL D176 and 84DL D009 bars.  Compared them a few years ago.  Like Chris said, I think they were about 1" different in length.  From what I remember (can't bank on my memory too much), 82DL was about right when trying a D009 mount bar on a D176 mount saw (and 71DL was 'about right' for a 20" 72DL D009 bar on a D176 saw in place of a 70DL 20" bar).

Now to bank WAY too much on my memory...........................if I can get to the shop this weekend I'll take a pic of a D009 mount 24" bar next to a D176 mount 24" bar.  That's assuming I don't forget by then......

Broke the 84DL chain and took the WAG.

Went with 82DL with D009 bar and it was perfect on the echo 702 d176 mount saw.

Just an idea for you guys trying to fit the HVA bar to the MAC or Echo.  A piece of 3/8OD metal fuel line, brake line or plumbing line has a 5/16ID.  Cut a 1/4 inch piece with a pipe cutter and slide it over the stud.  You can harden your new adapters with a propane torch and some oil if your serious.  Now you can fit both bar sizes by sliding the 3/8 - 5/16 adapters on and off the bar studs.
