Grinder?????
« on: February 17, 2013, 11:00:54 pm »
What do you guys think is a good grinder for the money, used or new?   Not looking to do chains all day long but I do cut 3-8 cords a year.

I'm into the 10 degree top plate angles and the whole bit.

The Oregon 511AX or Tecomec Jolly Star will do this. They are essentially the same grinder.

They are $312-$300 free shipping If you look around, otherwise they may be double that.

I just file them with the Oregon Pro clamp on filing jig. For no more cutting than you do that's probably good enough. They can turn out some nice chains.

Thanks for the input, I'll have to keep my eyes open in the paper and craigs list, my wife tells me we can't afford a new one.
If anyone hears of a good used one please let me know.  Thanks  Jason
