I got this saw for free yesterday evening. PO said he couldnt get it started. Cleaned air filter. Found that the spark plug came apart. Replaced with a champion dj8j and it runs good now. Am I correct this MTD/Ryobi chainsaw?

Just seen this.  Looks like Troy-bilt or other MTD product

I had a plug come in on a 350 like that the other day.

You notice it says Mac MTD and Sears.  Mac just rebadges others saws. Made in China.

More info dug up for you.

Talking about a MTD Yard Machine chainsaw

Mantenance Parts Hard To Find
On hour 2 of trying to find the air filter. Parts are McCulloch because they were bought out and asked MTD to make saw for them. But McCulloch didn't send parts so MTD does NOT have the air filters. They have a fuel filter that should be replaced every 20 hours. Those seem to be available through Stens and even Sears seems to have those. A 1/8" i.d. fuel line 1-1/4" length. But the air filter (that is washable) is proving harder to find. Told the machine was way over 2 years old and parts were hard for the tech person to find. GAS FILTER IS / MC-9182-310001, AIRFILTER IS / MC-9228-310-204

Bought the saw new in October 2012. Used to cut fire wood first day out. Stopped working after 30 minutes of miscellaneous cutting. Had to have new cylinder and head. In the shop for over a month waiting on parts. Next summer, first time use after repair, ran for a couple hours on and off...then stopped. In the shop now waiting on answers! Don't buy it.
