2100 problems
« on: January 26, 2013, 09:54:24 pm »
Ive been working on a 2100 I got and Im having carb problems. Put a carb kit in it and it ran for 2 minutes or so and then wouldn't take throttle. Put a new fuel line and filter in it so I thought it was the tank vent so took the vent out then the saw were run way too lean at WOT. Put a tank vent back in but it still running way to lean no more how much I richen the H needle...plus it only throttles down about to half (pretty fast idle, idle screw clear out) and I tried to richen the L needle to but won't fix it. Took the carb apart again made sure all the jets, ports, screens, etc were clean. Put it back together but same results (saw is too lean no matter what I do with the H needle at WOT)...Bad carb??

There's a air leak somewhere
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

Look between the carb and the cylinder

Between the cylinder and the crankcase

Around the crankshaft seals

Sometimes there is a leak between the crankcase halves

Some of these problems will require a crankcase pressure check?

If you change the seals there's a little trick .Because of the square shoulder on that praticular model as well as several others you have to kind of "shoe spoon " the seal over the transision on the shaft .If  you don't it's easy to roll the lip on the seal .Seals are relatively inexpensive for that model .
