55 rancher help
« on: November 17, 2012, 10:51:57 pm »
Ok I am new to the site, and looking for help
 I have a older 55 bought about 2002
it has been to several husky repair centers since I have it, just never seems to run right or for any length of time
, think it has been in shops longer than I have it!
BUT  I am currently having a problem of a  gas leak, its leaking  out of the cap!
I replaced the o ring, then the cap, then a second cap, to no help!
it seems to be under pressure and actually bubbles out even if on its side, when on over a half a tank, and if left standing normally will almost drain empty over night!
I had it in a husky repair center last yr for same problem,  and they fixed it, after having the saw for 3 months, seems all the dealers here move like snails, one had it for 6 months once for it not idling! and gave it back to me telling me they didn't know waht was wrong with it, second dealer fixed it under warranty in 2 months! almost alike a lemmon of a saw! goes from running great to lousy at will!
but  about 6 months later it started leaking gas again, rather than go back to shop,
I just kept it low on fuel and kinda gave up on solving the issue!
But with all the storm damage from Sandy
its been getting a work out, and leaking gas like crazy every time I am done for the day, next day it is out of gas, wasting me a lot of fuel and pre mix!

so what can be causing this thing to leak gas?? or how do I fix it , I know there is no cracks in the case, and the cap and O ring are  new, I now have 4 gas caps, and all are pretty much new

when I open the cap I seem to get a release of pressure too, and it again leaks out the cap only , I have even tried bigger O rings and even two O rings to no help??
 please help

Ok I might be just not seeing it, but I don't see any  parts being numbered 1-15-  or what ever on that link
am I just missing it?? I did go to the fuel link(on left side) but again didn't a list of parts there  numbered 1 to??

 what/ how , do I change/check the vent??
sorry to seem like a dummy here , but I never really worked on a chain saw before, so all the help you could offer would be much appreciated

Click the link above with the price of vent. It shows #15 and vent location.

OK Now I am looking at the link closer, But on this 455 , it shows a primmer bulble, and mine doesn't even have one??
and again not to sound like a dummy, but NO where on that link is a price list all it is , when I open it up is a 15 page PFD service manual for a 455 rancher, so am I missing something ??

OK I am looking on that site for the 55, and looking at the vent, how does that get removed?? does it screw in or is it pressed in, and if pressed in how do you get it out??
again I never worked on one before so, ??

here is the link
 http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=husqvarna&mn=55+%282000-05%29&dn=084340004
