I haven't seen a small block Ford in an 8n either .My comment was about old Jeeps with V8 engines .
All this sounds good but often it doesn't work out so well .I don't care what it is you increase the power by 3 or 4 times something is going to fail .
I once saw what was left of an old Cletrac crawler somebody stuck a Ford 289 in to replace the 6 cylinder Continental flat head engine .They used the Ford three speed tranny locked in second gear .It tore the finals out of the crawler .What was left was 5 tons of scrap cast iron .

Rambling on what will surprise folks is how much power an old Farmall F-20 will take .They would take Chevy 454 and Ford 429-460 engines,souped to the gills and pull them in the super modified tractor pulls .That rear end was designed for about 20 HP and might have over 500 on it with big fat combine rice tires spinning at about 70 MPH .That amazed me .
