Has anyone found a particular paint that will stay on the bar a reasonable amount of time?

Make sure to get whatever these guys comes up with that works.  I had a saw come in where guy painted the bar and the paint curled off under bar mount and plugged up the oiler holes.

If you are going to spray DuPont Imron epoxy paint make sure you wear a respirator and make sure it is a good one and not one of those flimsy surgical mask.  That paint is strong stuff and not good for your lungs.

Had a guy that worked for me in machinery maintenance that painted his horse trailer over the week end with Imron and he was coughing blood on Monday morning. No mask!

I painted the outside of a 23' sailboat above the waterline with Imron 25 years ago and had no problem but I used an expensive mask.

Nasty stuff. If I were painting now days I'd use a full fresh air supply and Tyvek  suit.  I'm sure the solvents and catalysts are absorbed through skin but we never considered that when we were painting planes.

I painted a Cadillac Seville and a Jaguar for my brother with Imron.   Expensive paint but tough.

Rustolem appliance epoxy paint. Remove old paint, sand leaving rough finish and degrease with a prepaint degreaser wiped on. I preheat with a quartz light for 15-30 min then a light coat of paint to bite in. Let dry with quartz light 30min to 1 hr then a medium coat and let dry with quartz light overnight. This paint when baked a little has a very hard and slick finish that wears and cleans well. Black, bright white and gray are the only colors I've found.  Ken

My father ended up in the hospitol spraying epoxy on a '71 Maverick years ago .I only drank two beers in that closed up garage many years ago and I was drunk as a skunk .Nasty,nasty stuff

Rustoliem works good on a bar .
