Solo 680 piston

Hi I'm trying to find a solo 680 piston, may possibly need cylinder head also haven't pulled it apart yet. I'm located in Australia

Yup. A Stihl 064 piston fits with a little work to clear the rod end.

What kind of modifying is required?? To use the 064 piston

Use a flat file and relieve the inside of the piston bosses where the rod goes in. The rod on the 680 is wider then the Stihl. Pretty easy, takes about 15 minutes. Its hard to explain but once you see it its is pretty obvious.

I have to open wrist pin bosses to run the stihl 066 pistons in my poulan 505 for same reason. or if you use the 064 in the 475.
It is easy to do. If I can do it anyone can.

Thanks for info I've got a pretty nice 680 I bought for the coil has scored piston.  Didn't need the coil after all the plug boot had come off the wire just far enough no spark.  Bought it to fix my very low hr. 603.

Thanks guys, I'm assuming the piston bosses are fairly easy to just file... Is there a certain "clearance" the pin bosses should be from the crank rod end?? Or does it have to be reasonably tight fit??

A small gap on each side to accommodate any misalignment of the cylinder as well as allowing fuel/oil mix to the wrist pin bearing would be ideal.

Anyone got solo 680 piston specs.

There is a guy talking to OP and me saying he used a 272 piston in a 680.
