About 40 - 50% of the time when the saw is at normal operating temp it won't startunless iI hold the throttle nearly wide open while cranking the engine. Some times it loads up some but then runs well. And most times I get a fair cloud of blue smoke when started cold. The other 50 - 60% of the time it runs great and is a beast given its size.  I read someplace this is a somewhat common, but easily repairable, problem related to the carb setting. The saw is still under warranty. Any thoughts?

You have warranty, why not use it?

We have the older MS362C-Q with a classical carburetor. The only engine related problems we have had with the saw are the sensitive ignition. It's important that the spark plug gap is correctly set, otherwise it gets an irregular idle and even stops.

Yours having the M-Tronic, a diagnosis at an equipped service enter may unfortunately be needed.

Someone had posted on another place that they had all sorts of starting problems even when going through the procedure as stated in the manual. I believe he ended up taking it back and a solenoid or something in the carb was bad. Replaced under warranty and was good to go. As stated, us the warranty while you have it.
