Stihl 048 optional bucking spike
« on: November 28, 2022, 01:40:23 pm »
Hi all. Just got myself a very nice Stihl 048 saw. Thinking this one I will add to my collection of shelf queens as I now have it running all fine. Looking at the parts list, they list an out chain cover bucking spike part number 1117 664 0502...I managed to find according to the seller a genuine NOS one off 'the bay' and it arrived this morning. I ordered the correct bolts and nuts from my stihl supplier as these are still available- I have come to fit the outer spike and compared to the inner one that they all have, this NOS one protrudes further forward than the one on the inner? The part number for the inner one is 1115 664 0500...which they all left the factory with, so I am a bit confused. I cannot find a clear photo on google where someone has fitted an outer spike to see whether theirs is the same??

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I did google the part number for the inner spike and the pics I found showed it to match more to the new outer one I have fitted. Looks like I will have to find an inner one now to match.
