Rules and sign up over there to get in.

Ok here are the rules
60 driver chain 50 ga
no thinned cutters. (not everybody has access to do that) other than that anything goes!!!
Will be timed on 3 down cuts with 2 timers and a video of each chain.
Chains to be id by chain a,b,c and so on
Chains to be run on a stock 3120
I will send everybody that sends a chain a pm witch one is your chain in the video
As soon as we are done i will mail your chain back by usps with tracking info pm to you
Please feel free post pictures as you go
Chains to be recieved by may 15
wood will be 10x10 popular

Chain can be ground or filed

This sounds like fun. I'll try to get one done. I seriously doubt I will be anywhere but last place but...hey ya gotta start somewhere. :)

Just a play chain for work and softwoods. I hope. :p  Using ATOP guide.

 No tunneling behind cutter or taking backs off though. Did  fronts of rakers even though I wasnt going to.

It's all said and done and posted on CompetitionSaws.  Just updating thread and sharing info here too.

Thanks to Steve and Jay doing all the testing with a stock 3120 and 9T practice saw  ;).  3 single cuts in 10x10 yellow poplar.

Steve = Here is the results of the chain build off. I want to thank everybody who sent chains and  Monday I will be sending the chains back to you. I am sorry i missed the target date on the build but a new  little lumberjack came in to jays and my life so it had to be put off. Jay has a grandboy to be proud of ;)

The first chain we ran was a totally stock 60 driver oregon chain bought at the local co-op. the average time for 3 cuts was 2.89. Oregon LGX

Another chain build off 3ci this time.

So you think you can square file? Well quit talking about it and send your chain in to see.

The 3120 9T chain build off was such a success competitionsaws is going to have a 3 cube chain build off this time.

Just posting for a friend.

Oct 15th is the test date as of now.

Saw will be a Husqvarna 50 Magnum and wood will be 8x8 poplar this time.

I thought I would start a new thread for the 3 cube chain. The rules will be the same as the last build with the exception we will use 8x8 poplar.



Congratulations to all the guys in the last chain build. Surprising just how fast and close the chains are out there now days, compared to the builds I tested 3 4 years ago.
