Chainsaw Repair

  Wow!  You used a whole new cylinder etc too?   You did find the reason from the scoring the first time right?

Has to be a air leak somewhere IMO too

Never got the the limitters.  Was running great until this past month.  It's nearly dead now after using it to buck horns off a Red Oak I was milling.

I'm told Stihl dealers will give me a nice trade in allowance for it if I go in and buy a 461 or 661....I'm seriously thinking of it if they will.  I no longer want to mess with it.

Would you believe there is nothing wrong with the saw?

I called Bailey's who sent me to Husqvarna who sent me to a local repair shop (didn't know they were a Husky repair shop) and I took the saw to them.  Mechanic smelled the gas and said "bad gas, one sec" and poured in some fresh fuel, cleaned up the carb etc with some air and pulled the air filter and cleaned it with air, then leaving the air filter off started the saw and ran it, shut it down and said "it's idling a little low, one sec" and proceeded to mess with the saw for a few minutes which I began videoing (and my vid did not save properly as my phone died).

He finished with the saw and said "good saw!" and charged me $10 for his time....I was kinda stumped.  Have to admit the saw sounded great after he messed with the idle and fuel mix a little, put the air filter back on and ran it again.  Yup, seems fine.

I realized the fuel I was using I mixed in December and thought "could it be?".  I'm out of that fuel anyway so I'll go get some non-ethonol fuel and mix it up and see how she goes.

Still scratching my head but despite the scoring shown in those pics the saw did cut well at WOT on oak....maybe it's just me

Sure looked that way to me but I was letting the 'Husky Service Rep' do his thing.  He said it sounded great and it does have power so I don't understand that.  THe rings are still sealing though so I just don't know
