rough idle.

Could a saw that has a rough idle. By rough idle I mean it is all over the place sometimes to fast and some times it will shut off. Be caused by a leaking crank seal, or maybe to big of a jet in the carb. It revs fine and has a steady top rpm.

I've had it be crank seals on this. Also had **** split intake boot do this too.

For me, a new carb metering valve diaphragm fixed this

It has a new carb and also the intake manifold is new as well. I will do a vaccum test and see what is going on with it.

Surging idle is the usual symptom of an air leak. Top handle saws are prone to intake boot leaks.

Did you find a problem during the Vac/Pressure test?

No it held tight during both test plus rolled the crank as well. think my jetting was to big had a tillotson HS 320 on there it had a .71 main jet , I put on a walbro wj 67 with .66 main jet and will try it out.
