My father stihl 023 starts idle but when you rev it dies.Help!

Open up the low speed jet a tad bit .If that doesn't get it rebuild the carb .More than likely the later .

So today I took off the muffler look at the piston -ok.
I made 3 or 4 cuts and whe you rev it dies.
Took off the cap at the gas made a lot off mess but the chainsaw works just fine!Could be the vent at the tank?
One more qusstion could someone tale me the codes of the parts for rebuilding the carb?

Looking at IPL several different carbs offered on 021 023 025 saws. Which carb do you have? 

Do you have the 021 023 025 IPL ?

This is why we need your carb numbers...      RB-50 the kit is used on Stihl 021, 023, and 025 saws with a C1Q-S11G carburetor.
