It is typical for the threads on the PTO end of the chainsaw crankshaft to be Left hand threads. The internally threaded clutches have left hand threads and also the ones with nuts on the outside to also be left hand threaded.

There's many large frame Homelites such as the C-series (and the XP-series saws without auto oilers).  They have a RH thread nut on the end of the crank to hold the clutch drum and washers on......................and a LH threaded section for the clutch hub.

The Homelite Super 2100 (and the Pioneer P-60 through P-62, Pioneer/Partner P-65, and PoulanPro 655) have a spllined crank snout and clutch hub and a RH thread nut.

Many old Macs have a RH thread nut and a tapered crank snout with a key.   Some Mac Kart engines have a LH threaded nut instead. 

Some old Macs have a clutch hub that's threaded on a LH threaded crank snout.
