I see that kind thing all the time also.   But what they will do is dump the fuel before they bring it in, but you cannot get rid of that smell of bad gas.    Soon as you pop the cap off the fuel tank it knocks you over.
When I find the gas bad, fuel lines bad, then usually the carb is going to be bad also.  It just messes up all the rubber parts.
