I should look closer before writing.  On closer inspection I see the hole on the end of the oil pump is a through hole.  That makes more sense since the internal shaft would pick up oil on one side and push it out the other through the rubber hose.
I am going to look into a 4 mm hex impact socket to try and remove the two remaining screws.
