Partner 5000
« on: March 06, 2011, 05:59:03 pm »
This 5000 was ran dry at idle in the spring and never used again and stored on the shelf.  Today i fueled it up and it wouldnt pull fuel through the line. So I primed it and still didnt pull fuel. So i check the line and it felt stiff and had hardened over the last 2 years. So i pulled the line and put new fuel line in it.
Primed a couple times more and still didnt pull fuel to the carb. Runs great on prime till fuel is run out of carb, just like it used to.

I got cold in the 20 degree so I gave up for today.

I'm thinking diaphragm has got stiff or the check valve flap on the other side dia is stuck or maybe the impulse seal to carb.

What do you think?

The small oem carb off a 490 without the brass gov. I would have to look for actual numbers on carb.

I think this saw had come from your way at one time. I noticed the 2 holes like the redmax 5000 in rear handle flat area.

Unless Simon Bertrand sold me a  5000  like that too.  I'm losing track.

The one that I sent you had the starter side grenade in the cut. Is this that one?

That one that blew the recoil in the cut was stock. But it could be that one still, just woods ported now  ;D

I will have to check.

Couple of the runners at the time.  I think I had 3x that on the shelf when I started selling off.

Wouldn't run on prime if the needle is stuck, if you don't mean priming by giving a shot on the air filter. Think the pump membrane has gone bad or you got the impulse channel clogged or leaking. Membranes often go simultaneously with the fuel lines.

This is the same saw Al Smith ran at Chardon and NWPA GTG with small oem carb and lesser chain. It was right on the heels of my good 5000 at the gtg, bad start at chardon.
