038 oiler

so can the oiler on the old 038 AV be re sealed? I pulled the cover and bar oil every where in there.

Are you sure it is the pump and not just the gasket leaking. I would try and get everything clean and dry,then your leak maybe easier to pin point.

hmm, good point. I need to do that. I looked on the bay and saw nothing but new oilers. it kinda a weird set up compared to the 1128 and 1122 saws.

As a general rule those are very robust pumps .One with a lot of hours might occasionally wear out the nylon drive gears .You should be able to buy new ones I'd think if that's the case .

ok, I cleaned up the saw and removed the oiler. definetly looks like the seal on the drive is leaking. badly. so I am stuck buying a new pump? I don't understand how this pump works, I only see one hole under the pump. does it just pressurize the tank?
gears look fine.

thanks Fish. I pulled the gasket, now I see the other passage. still going to get a pump, I have not found just that seal.

I remember [30 years ago] my 038 Mag had issues with a rubber plug popping out of the pump housing, this was caused when the bar's oil hole plugged up on the Windsor bars causing back pressure to pop the plug out.
Might be where you developed your leak.
